Some days you're excited about building your own future. Other days, you wonder whether you're doing any of it right and self-doubt creeps in.
That's the Corporate Hangover.
It's what happens when the habits, expectations and unwritten rules that helped you succeed in corporate continue to shape how you show up in business.
Ready to shake it off?

For years, you learned how to succeed in one environment, but now you're navigating a completely different one.
Perhaps you've caught yourself thinking...
Do I need some reassurance before making this decision?
I don't feel ready to do this yet.
The idea of putting myself out there feels so uncomfortable.
I know I'm good at what I do, so why don't I trust my judgement?
I don't want to get this wrong.
Talking about money gives me the ick; it's so "salesy".
Why am I overthinking everything?
If any of those sound familiar, you're in good company.
These thoughts don't mean you're in the wrong business, and they don't mean you're not cut out for entrepreneurship. They're often the legacy of years spent succeeding in an environment that rewarded, even expected, a very different way of thinking and working.
The good news? You don't need to become a completely different person.
We'll keep the experience, strengths and wisdom you've worked so hard to gain, but leave behind the habits and unwritten rules that no longer serve you. You'll build your business with more freedom, more trust in your own judgement and a lot less second-guessing.

I'm Emily, founder of NurtureWorks and the person behind The Corporate Hangover.
My work is based on a simple idea: building a business after corporate isn't just about learning how to run a business. It's also about learning how to operate when you're the one making the decisions, setting the expectations and deciding what good looks like.
When we work together, I'll ask the questions you might be avoiding and help you spot the patterns you're too close to notice yourself. You bring the experience; I bring an outside eye.
It's a partnership. I'll support you and challenge your thinking in equal measure, so the choices you make are ones you'll still stand behind long after we've finished working together.
Want to know more about the thinking behind my work?

There's no single way to build a business, and no single way to work together either. Whether you're ready to work through the full RISE Programme or you're looking for focused support around a specific challenge, we'll decide together what feels right for where you are now.

“Something’s getting in my way.”
I know something isn’t working, but I’m struggling to shift it on my own. I want to understand what’s really going on, challenge the thinking behind it and leave knowing what I’m going to do differently.

“There’s something I want to get better at.”
I want focused support with an area of my business – whether that’s selling, money, visibility or networking. I want to try things, learn from what happens and build an approach that works for me.

“I want to change how I’m approaching my business.”
I’m ready to shake off the Corporate Hangover, trust myself more and stop relying on old ways of working. I want to build my business as an owner, using my experience without letting corporate rules run the show.

I speak about the transition from corporate professional to business owner, and the habits, expectations and unwritten rules that can make that transition harder than we expect.
